Kings Hill Allotments

NEWS OF THE ALLOTMENTS ON HEATH FARM

It was good to get a response from Caroline Binns of Liberty, to the request to speed up the process of drawing up the lease for the allotments.

I do believe that a lease is now being looked at by Kings Hill Parish Council Amenities Committee and that during this month they should have a better idea of what that lease means to hopeful allotment holders.

It is great that Liberty is giving a 4.5 million sports pavilion, grass and all weather pitches to Kings Hill Parish Council.  Good news for people who want to use the sports pitches, as the pitches were seeded last autumn. Meanwhile the allotment site is going to seed. It seems that the lease for the sports facilities and allotment site are linked.

I read in the quarterly View From The Hill, that funding is being sought for fencing, water supply and ground works for the allotments.  There is talk of a composting toilet on the allotments and solar panels for any electrical requirements.  All very green, but, will allotment holders be able to use the sports facilities?  Sheds? That is another question. Will we be allowed sheds and if so would it be one big communal one or one for every plot? No sheds? Will Liberty provide any of these facilities to the Allotments?

I hope by next month that these questions and many more will have been discussed and answered.  Fingers crossed.  THE ALLOTMENTS ARE COMING!
